Dallin Peterson Family

Dallin and I met at Utah Valley Hospital while we both worked in food services. After getting married we both attended the UVU nursing
program. We both started out nursing careers at Utah Valley Hospital and ended up moving up here because Dallin got a new job at the VA hospital in Salt Lake. Dallin works on the inpatient psych unit. I work at a doctors office in Orem which also happens to be a psychiatry and detox clinic. We both are really liking our jobs and we are loving living up here!
I am from Sugarhouse and went to Highland High. Dallin is from Highland, (Utah) and went to Lone Peak. Dallin loves everything to do with the outdoors. He is an avid runner. He specifically enjoys long distance trail running. He also loves hiking, rock climbing and biking and camping. He is always up for adventure. My hobbies include crafting (painting quotes, sewing and basically anything that involves a glue gun), writing and reading. I used to dance-ballroom, ballet, jazz, etc. but have not kept up with it, but I still love to any time I get the chance.
Jayne is 18 months old. She is so much fun. She loves to dance and climb on things. She loves going down slides and playing outside. But she loves animals more than anything else I think. Anytime she sees an animal she can’t contain her excitement and everything else is forgotten. Jayne loves people and friends but is very attached at the hip to mom and dad. She says a few words (ya, no, mama, “da” wa-wa) and says several more made up words. She is such a happy girl naturally and she brings us so much joy and laughter every day.

Phil and Angie Smith Family

We (Phil and Angie) went to Alta and were high school sweethearts. Both sets of our parents and most of our siblings still live close by. We moved into the ward 2 1/2 years ago and love being so close to the mountains. Our family loves Lake Powell, singing at the dinner table, hiking, traveling, backpacking, visiting national parks, playing sports, and spending time with friends and family.
Phil has a Bachelors degree in economics and an MBA. He runs a business as a broker of infrastructure equipment in the wireless telecom industry. He loves to ride his bike, hike, travel, sing and dance with his girls, eat his wife’s cooking, and keep the family laughing.
Angie is currently working on her Master’s degree in Nutrition at the University of Utah to become a registered dietitian. She will finish up early this summer and is excited to have a social life again. She loves cooking for a crowd of friends and family, learning new things, spending time with her girls as they grow up way too fast, and being active.
Ryleigh (17) is a junior at Hillcrest High School. She has a passion for academics, swimming, track, music, theater, reading, and smiling. She is very self-motivated and loves to keep busy. She’s trying to decide where she wants to go to college.
Sydney (14) is a freshman at Hillcrest High School. She is a great student, loves singing, theater, volleyball, sewing, snuggling with the family dog, and spending time with her friends. She is very responsible, and is loving and helpful with her little sisters.
Chloe (10) attends 4th grade at Granite Elementary School. She has a passion for life, loves soccer, basketball, math, singing while listening to music on her iPod, riding her bike, playing with friends and cousins, and being in the outdoors. She is happiest when taking care of little kids and our new puppy.
Naomi (7) attends 2nd grade at Granite Elementary School. She loves telling jokes, making art projects for all her loved ones, singing, dancing, cooking, playing with her older sisters and friends, cuddling our new puppy, and most of all making people smile. She is very excited to get baptized in June and talks about her birthday (which is not for three months) daily.

Richard and Lee Ann Scott Family

Richard and I meet at Skyline High School. We were good friends and at the end of my senior year. When I chose to get baptized, Richard baptized me. He went on to serve a mission in the Japan Tokyo South Mission. I went to BYU and studied elementary and early childhood education.
About a year after Richard returned from his mission we married. Richard studied business at the U. of U. and got his MBA at Thunderbird (in Arizona). Richard also was in the linguistic unit of the Utah National Guard. We lived in Monterey, California where he learned to speak Mandarin Chinese. Richard has spent his career working in international marketing of medical devices and pharmaceuticals. We spent the first 20 years of our marriage moving all over the country, while Richard traveled all over the world for work.
We have four children, Josh born in California, Whitney born in Utah, Alisha born in Texas and Jared born in Florida. When our oldest Josh was on his mission in Russia we decided it was time to move “home”. Even though Richard was still working in California we moved our family back to Utah and landed in the Glacial Park Ward. Richard commuted to California for three years but has since worked for 3 different medical device companies here in Utah.
I was a stay-at-home Mom and enjoyed being at home raising our children while Richard traveled. When our Jared was in high school, I started teaching kindergarten and have been teaching for about 10 years now! Richard has always had an interest in Israel and is a volunteer tour guide and has taken a few groups to Israel. He loves sharing his knowledge of this sacred land with others.
Josh lives in Draper with his wife Sharsti and they have three children, Jackson-6, Lily-2 and Claire-1. Whitney, our
oldest daughter is married to Josh Asay and they live in Riverton. They have 4 children, Calvin-6, Porter-4, Ezra-2 and a new baby girl Ruby who is one month old.
Alisha, our third child, recently married Joe Aston. They just moved back to Utah from N. Carolina. Joe is in the Marine Corps and leaves on a deployment to the Middle East after the first of the year. We are very proud of him and his service for our country. When he is done with this deployment he will be out of the Marines and will continue his education up at the U. Jared married Kate Berry from the Bell Canyon Ward and they attend school in Logan. Buddy, my favorite child, is my 14 year old fluffy little dog.
Richard and I are about to start a new chapter in our lives. Richard has taken a job as director of marketing for Asia Pacific with his company. We will be living in Singapore for the next three years. His company has some amazing molecular diagnostic products that revolutionize the way infectious diseases are diagnosed and treated. It is a lifesaving device and Richard is excited to help bring this device to the Asian markets. He has already started that new job and will be all over Asia for the next few months. I will join him in Singapore sometime this summer. Alisha and Joe will be living in our home (and taking care of Buddy) while we are gone. We plan on coming home often so you will still be seeing our smiling faces from time to time.

Al and Muriel Menssen Family

Al and Muriel Menssen probably classify as long-time residents of Granite. Al has lived here since age five. Muriel joined him after they got acquainted and married while at BYU. All four of their children were raised in the house where they currently live. Three families still live close enough to join with them monthly. The fourth family lives in Virginia, which gives them an excuse to travel across the country every few years.
The Menssens’ favorite activity is exploring. They love our state and have seen most of it. They do red rock areas in cool times of the year and head for the mountains when it’s hot. They also love their trailer, which provides a lovely home away from home when they go exploring.

Van and Betsy Peterson Family

Ten years ago this month, as newest members of the ward, Betsy and I were asked to write our story for Glacial Park Ward newsletter. (It’s beginning to look like a pattern!) We plan to be around for the next chapter in ten years so stand by. Can’t wait to see what happens.
Our family has grown to 28 grandchildren from Pennsylvania to California. We get to travel but always enjoy coming back to our “home in the mountains.” We live in a beautiful area.
Our grown children are finally doing well and telling us to back off. We have sold two rental homes they occupied and no longer need. Great! However, like all parents and grandparents there is no real retirement from family. We are now cheerleaders.
After 38 good memorable years teaching science and 10 more substituting I have willingly given up the roll books and seating charts.
So Betsy says I have to reinvent myself and get out of her way. Our shed out back is now a modest art studio with brushes, paints and French easel.
Instruction has begun so watch out Picasso! Since being released as High Priest Group Leader, I am grateful to serve again as a temple ordinance worker. Life is good.
Besides playing organ in the Draper Temple, Betsy still enjoys teaching sewing and has about 15 students who put out beautiful work.
Our plans are still to serve however and wherever we can – and travel.
Next stop on our world tour – Moab, in September, jeep and rafting.

Roger and Maureen Ricks Family

Roger was raised on a farm in Idaho Falls, ID. Maureen was raised in the Westchester area of Los Angeles.
We met in the fall of 1964 when we moved next door to each other in Provo. Roger had just returned from his mission to Finland. Maureen was sure she was going to wait for her missionary. Roger thought Maureen was a spoiled brat from Los Angeles. Maureen thought that Roger was a hick from Idaho!! Turns out, we were both right. We did not even like each other at first.
We went on a first date in January 1965. We were married June 11, 1965 in the Los Angeles temple. We recently celebrated 52 years of marriage.
Roger took flying lessons in LA, and got a job flying line patrol for the telephone company. He has logged about 8,000 hours, mostly in small single engine aircraft. His goal was to fly for the airlines. The airlines told him he had to have a college degree, so we moved back to Provo. After he had graduated, the Vietnam War was over, and jet pilots were a dime a dozen, so he could not get a job with the airlines. He graduated with a degree in accounting. He went to work in Pasco, WA for large corporate farms that were owned by U & I Sugar. He found out that he didn’t like accounting, really quickly. We moved back to Utah in 1978.
In 1980, we had the chance to move to Edmond, OK. We lived there for the next 13 years. Roger worked for Fleming Foods in their Risk Management Dept. Maureen worked in the schools as a “lunch lady”.
In 1993, we moved back to Utah – again! We bought a home on Chylene Drive. In 2001, we bought our home on Laura Lane. We love living in this area. We love the ward, our neighbors and friends.
We have three children. Cristal was born in 1968. She graduated with a MBA from the U. She is currently living in Gilbert AZ and recently got a job as the COO in the Banner Healthcare System. She loves her job. Her husband is Jason, and they are the proud “parents” of two dogs, Tucker and Olivia. They are our “granddogs”.
Michael was born in 1970. He graduated from BYU in communications, and got his Masters in Health Administration at Washington University in St. Louis. He is currently COO of Hoag Healthcare System in Newport Beach, CA. He loves to ride bicycles. He recently finished his first Ironman competition. He came in 4th out of 282 in his age group. His wife, Heather, is my favorite daughter-in-law (and only) and is a great mom and wife. She is a trainer, and loves to run half marathons. Their daughter Jessica has one more semester at BYU and will graduate in communications disorders in the spring. She is a returned missionary to the Spanish speaking Mesa AZ mission. Dillon is serving a mission in Spain Barcelona, and Madi is a senior in high school.
Grant was born in 1977 and works in the oil fields of North Dakota as a cook at the Man Camps up there. He has four children – Gage, Nycol, Ember, and Wyatt. They live in Beatty NV with their mother.

Becca and Johny Hill Family

Becca and Jonny grew up in small towns on opposite sides of the pond—one from New England, the other from England. Despite the distance, serving missions in Manchester, England is what eventually brought them together.
Becca was born and raised in the suburbs of Boston, MA. She is the youngest of five siblings and enjoys the excitement and variety her siblings bring to the family. From pink hair as a toddler to a love of games and running cross country, their interests and talents have become some of the very same things she loves. In particular, her sister’s influence is the reason why she listened to the missionary discussions, after being inactive for some years, and was baptized along her side just before Becca’s 11th birthday. Similarly, Becca followed her sister to BYU where Becca received a degree in Mathematics Education.
Jonny, also the youngest of his four siblings, was born and raised outside of London, England, in a small village by the name of Wing. His family, while converts of their own (his dad’s grandparents and his mother), were the only members in the town and led by example. As a result of growing up in an area with very few people, he was close to siblings, despite an age gap. Specifically, Jonny and his brother became great friends as they pursued body building together, which has now become a personal hobby of his. Additionally, he has been able to develop a love for the outdoors, photography, and technology, including the occasional video game.
When the time came, the decision to serve missions ended up being life-changing as that is where they met. Becca, still learning the “English” language, and Jonny, learning the mission lifestyle, had their first conversation during lunch. Nothing romantic, but a carefree chat in the kitchen is what sparked it all. They served nearby each other for six months before Becca returned home, which then led to a few letter exchanges while Jonny finished his mission and Becca finished her studies at BYU.
When Jonny returned home from his mission, they began texting, then chatting, and eventually trips to visit one another and their families. Even though thousands of miles separated them, they sacrificed a couple of hours a day, and maybe a few more hours of sleep, to spend time talking to each other via Skype. After a year of dating long-distance and a few paperwork hurdles, Jonny moved away from his homeland and everything familiar to begin his studies and be married. They were married in the Boston temple on Black Friday in 2015.

Steve and Sandy Morgan Family

Steve and Sandy Morgan Family
The Morgans moved thirty years ago, looking for the perfect neighborhood to raise their three children, and they found it in Granite. Steve and Sandy were born and raised in Salt Lake City and fell in love at Highland High where they were cheerleaders their senior year.
After high school, Steve served a mission in the Mexico Southeast Mission and Sandy went to school to become an executive secretary and went to work for the editor and publisher of Desert Book. They married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 17, 1975, the date they set before Steve’s mission. Later, Steve attended the University of Utah, graduating in accounting, and became a CPA working for Coopers & Lybrand. One of his early audit assignments was Westminster College, and in 1981 they offered him a job as their business manager. In 2015, after working there for 34 years in various roles, Steve was appointed Westminster’s 18th president and Sandy became the college’s First Lady.
Steve and Sandy raised three children in Granite: Amanda, Daniel, and Alex. They loved growing up in the Glacial Park Ward. Danny and Alex served missions while Amanda was attending college. All three of them graduated from Westminster College and went on to earn graduate degrees from other institutions. Sandy also went back to school while they were all attending Westminster and graduated with honors with a Bachelors in Fine Arts degree, with an emphasis in ceramics.
Amanda married Chris Bowerman in December 2015, and they live in Sugar House with their two dogs. Amanda works in employee recruitment and Chris works for a technology company. On Sundays, Amanda teaches gospel doctrine and Chris serves as Elders Quorum President
Danny married Amelia Dawson, a girl he met at Brighton High School, in February 2005, and they now live in South Jordan. They have five children, the last one born on Steve’s birthday this year. Danny is an investment manager and Amelia is a professional homemaker.
Alex has three children, two daughters and a son, and recently moved to Sandy. He has a MSW and is a professional mental health counselor currently working in healthcare. He is also an avid soccer fan and never misses a SL Real game.
The Morgan Family enjoys spending weekends skiing at their cabin in Brighton or boating and water skiing at Jordanelle or Lake Powell. Steve loves to run and just recently completed the NY City Marathon, his 28th marathon. Sandy loves being a grandma. They love the gospel of Jesus Christ and both Steve and Sandy have served in many callings in the ward and stake, which has blessed their lives.

Craig and Susan Griffeth family

We are the Griffeth Family. We have lived in the Glacial Park Ward for 31 years. Gee, that makes us sound old. We moved in to a 100 year old farmhouse, on the property where the Egans now live. Six years later we built and moved to the home where we now live.
Craig and Susan met at BYU and were married in 1973. Craig spent most of his career working for Utah Power and The Flower Patch, where he was physical facilities manager. He retired in June. He is very talented in that he can take apart and fix anything. He loves yardwork and movies. Susan recently retired from CenturyLink, Mountain Bell, where she started 43 years ago. She worked in the wireless and CLEC industry. She enjoys her grandchildren and home improvement projects.
We have five wonderful boys, five lovely daughters-in-law, and 14 grandchildren.
For those of you who remember them, I’ll give you a quick update about where they’re at now.
Eric is a manager in the Tech Department at CenturyLink. He is graduating this year with his Bachelor’s in computer engineering/security. He is married to Paige, they live at Traverse Mountain, and have a son, Asher, five, and a daughter, Lydia, one. Lydia is our miracle child born after being married 16 years.
Joshua works in finance for Goldman-Sachs. He is married to Aubri. They live at Traverse Mountain, have five children, Alexis, 9, Cooper, 7, Kira, 5, Hailey, 3, and Blakely, 1.
Tyler is a senior coding consultant at IHC. He is graduating with his Masters from Gonzaga University in Organizational Leadership in December. He is married to Stephanie, they live in Sandy, and have 3 sons, Nathan 6, Max 4, and Jacob, 1.
Jordan is a RN at Jordan Valley Hospital, over the Endoscopy Department. Nice to have an institution named after you! He is also graduating in December from Maryville University in St. Louis, as a Nurse Practitioner. He is married to Shawnee, they live in Centerville, with 2 boys, Carter 4, and Jaxon, 4 months.
Scott is going to school at Utah Valley University and he also works at EBay. He is applying for medical school in the spring. He is married to Brianna, they live in Orem, and they have 2 boys, Raiden 2, and Daxton, 3 months.
Our family has a great time together. We often go on trips together, or with those who are able to go. Our Sunday dinners are interesting, but fun. Very difficult to hear yourself think with 5 loud boys, and 14 children under 9. Roger refers to our daughters-in-law as the roses among the thorns, as he dealt with the boys in Scouts.
We are very happy to live in Granite, and enjoy the country-like atmosphere, our great neighbors and friends, and the backdrop of beautiful mountains.

Mark and Elizabeth Gibson family

Mark & Elizabeth met at an LDS singles conference in Newberry Park, CA in September 1991 and were married in the L.A. Temple in April 1993. Both having Southern roots, they decided to immediately relocate to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where Mark completed his B.A. in Sports Science/Exercise Physiology. Their first child, Sarah, was born there in 1995 and their caboose, Robert, came along in 1997. (Mark also has three sons from his first marriage: Scott, John & Mark.)
Although they had planned to remain in NC forever, an offer of employment brought Mark & Elizabeth to Sandy in 1998, where their family has lived ever since.
Mark is currently a substitute teacher. Elizabeth is a freelance writer. Sarah (20) is a singer/songwriter, currently completing her debut EP. Robert (18), who was chronically ill for 5 years, is completing his GED and looking forward to going to college this year. He is interested in becoming an attorney.
The Gibson family, though homesick at times, loves Glacial Park Ward and all of their wonderful friends and neighbors!

Vaughn and Sherie Cox Family

Vaughn and Sherie met at young adults after Vaughn served a mission to Finland. Sherie was working as a nurse at LDS Hospital and Vaughn was going back to school to finish his degree in finance. Luckily for Sherie, Vaughn wasn’t able to return to BYU and instead went to the U. After several months Vaughn finally saw the light and proposed and we were married. Three years later Vaughn had his MBA and 2 daughters, Shannon and Angela, We relocated to southern California and remained there for 10 years adding 3 more children to our family; Elizabeth, Ethan, and Jonathan. We returned to Utah in 1989 and moved back to the area we met. Now 26 years later we have added 9 grandchildren to our extended family, including a set of triplets. We are lucky that most of our children live close by, Jonathan lives in Las Vegas. Luckily all of our grandchildren live close so we can spoil them and then send them home. Sherie still works as a nurse at the University of Utah and Vaughn has finally found the perfect job teaching finance at UVU. This year Vaughn received his PhD in Finance so on rare occasions Sherie will call him Dr. Cox. We like living close to the mountains as we enjoy camping and hiking.
The Boyle, Mackay, Anderson Compound
(As Garrett likes to call it!)

Braxton and McKenzie have been living in the basement for almost a year now. They are very happy with their new little baby, Trevor. He brings them so much joy and they love being parents. He has learned how to eat well and is steadily gaining weight. McKenzie gets to stay at home with him for the time being. Braxton is enjoying the summer break from school; he attends UVU and is majoring in Exercise Science with a Spanish minor. He also works at a physical therapy clinic during the week which he really enjoys. They are happy to be in the ward and love working with the youth in their callings.
The Mackay family is so excited to be back in the ward again. We didn't think we would ever be writing a spotlight about our family in this ward again, but here we go!
-Tanner is 7 years old and excited to be baptized next year. He loves every sport. Playing and watching...he can't pick a favorite. It just depends on the season and what is being played. He is an excellent student in school and loves to learn.
-Corbin is 5 years old and always has a smile on his face. He loves Legos, Star Wars, and playing with his brothers. He is a great baseball and soccer player and can hold his own against his big brother. He also has the coolest hair in our family!
-Austin is 2 1/2 years old and full of energy. He is always on the go and trying to find something to climb on or get into. He loves dancing to music and eating chicken nuggets. He also likes to play sports with his brothers. His favorite person is his Grandma.
-Sydney is a Labor & Delivery nurse at Alta View Hospital. She loves being able to have adult conversations at least twice a week while working the night shift. She stays busy driving the boys to sports six days a week and trying to keep them all fed. She loves to go on vacation and is always planning their next getaway.
-Garrett is a regional manager for TNT Fireworks, if you can even call that a job! He loves life and loves to play! He plays on a basketball and soccer team, breaks raquetball raquets, loves to go boating, hunting, and fishing or anything else Russ Smith likes to do.
We are actively looking for our new home, but wherever we end up Glacial Park Ward will always have a special place in our heart!
McKay takes online classes at UVU and works at North Face at Fashion Place Mall. He is in the elders quorum presidency of his single adult ward. The boys love Uncle McKay because he always plays sports with them!
Cheryl works as a proofreader for Deseret Book and also proofreading depositions for three court reporters. Sometimes that means working in the middle of the night to find some quiet time. She thinks she must be the luckiest mom and grandma on earth to have all of her family living and laughing together in the “compound.”

Russ and Holly Smith Family

Hey Y’all!
We’re the Smiths!
SOMETIMES WE PRETEND TO BE NORMAL… BUT IT GETS BORING… SO WE GO BACK TO BEING US…
JADE (9) is a delight. When I asked her what animal she would be … she said, “That’s easy… cuz I already am a monkey.” Her nickname in Lacrosse is Jo. Her whole nickname is Jo Monkey Sunshine. I’ll add Ninja behind that because she has some seriously wicked moves! If you don’t know Jade you should. She has a unique and funny way of looking at the world.
STONE (12) is a gentle guy. He is our avid golfer with a beautiful swing. He also is a chess master. Many a person in our ward has fallen victim to his chess precision and skill. Don’t let his sweet innocent face fool you. (And yes, Stevan you can have a re-match)
JACKSON (15) is an amazing kid! He is a lover of all things horses. He is certified in scuba diving. He had an encounter with some sharks in a cave in Hawaii! Whew! All is well. He’s still around to tell the tale.
SAMMIE (17) is just a good egg! We don’t take credit for that … she was just hatched that way. She was a tomboy until her sophomore year when she quit wearing Nike high tops and sport shorts. Her favorite phrase is BOOH-YAH BABY!
RUSS (47) loves food! He is a self-entertainer and a closet performer! Who knew? He thinks he is SO funny! (That’s up for debate) He wishes he had Michael Bolton’s hair from the 80’s but when that dream went out the window he started shaving his head. Russ gets the most out of life, always.
And then there’s me, HOLLY, (43). I’m just your average run of the mill Trophy Wife… KIDDING! That will be in my next life. I do like to take naps and eat bon-bons! (One of those actually is true – I’ll let you figure out which)
We LOVE living in this neighborhood. We LOVE seeing the mountains every day and we are truly SO HAPPY to know each of you!!!

Mark and Mauricette McKinnon Family

We have lived in the Granite area for just over 13 years, moving in just 3 weeks before our youngest child Kate was born. We’ve been married 22 years.
Mark grew up in Provo, Utah and graduated with his degree in Political Science and his MBA from BYU. He served a mission in Brussels, Belgium. Mark works for Raymond James advising institutional investors. He loves biking and spending time with his family.
Mauricette grew up in Norman, Oklahoma and also received her degree at BYU in Sociology. She served a mission in Copenhagen, Denmark. She works Thursday mornings at the Draper Temple Baptistry. She enjoys reading, walking and spending time with family and friends.
Christian, age 20, is currently serving a mission in Milan, Italy where he is working hard and loving every minute of his mission. His release date is January 23, 2015, after which he is planning to continue his education at Utah State University.
Amanda, 18, recently graduated from high school and Seminary and will be attending Utah Valley University in the Fall. She recently earned her certificate in phlebotomy and is currently finishing up her CNA. She will conclude her employment up at Snowbird this week where she has been working for the last three years.
Sophie, 15, will be a sophomore at Brighton High School this year. She recently got her driving permit and is looking forward to more autonomy. She takes piano (under duress) and also works up at Snowbird.
Kate, 13, will be in 8th grade at Eastmont Middle School this year. She also (grudgingly) takes piano. She’s an avid reader, enjoys drama and takes voice lessons.
We love living in the Granite area of Sandy where we have made wonderful memories and friendships.

Dave and Tami Crabtree Family

We are the Crabtree Family. We have lived on Mt. Jordan Rd. in the Glacial Park Ward for about 13 years. Tami grew up in Eugene, Oregon, and David graduated high school in Davis County after growing up in various areas of the United States. We met at BYU and have been married 31 years.
Our oldest son Jordan served in the Tijuana, Mexico mission. He currently lives with roommates and works as a computer programmer.
Our daughter Jennifer is married to Jeff Ebert (formerly of the Granite Ridge Ward) and they have two little girls- Mila will be 2 this month and Eliza is 10 months old. They recently moved from Kentucky where Jeff was attending school. They are living with us for a few weeks until they move into a home in South Jordan. David and Tami love being grandparents to Mila and Eliza.
Katherine our third child lives in Seattle and just completed her 2nd year of Law School. She will be spending the summer in India working for a human rights organization. She will do a great job since she is a very compassionate person.
Michael our youngest just returned from a mission in Kennewick Washington and will be having his homecoming talk June 8th. He worked very hard serving the Lord and spreading the good message of the gospel.
Our family enjoys hiking, laughing, lots of work projects, and traveling together. We have dogs – more than we can count sometimes – and usually get to a concert, or a festival or just something that strikes us as fun once in awhile.

Stevan and Joelle Baxter family

We have lived in the neighborhood for four years and love the neighborhood and beautiful outdoors around us. We feel very spoiled to live here. Stevan is from Ashton, Idaho (30 minutes northeast of Rexburg on your way to West Yellowstone). He went to Ricks College (a good choice, as you will see) and BYU for his undergrad, and the University of Utah for law school. He is an attorney at Olsen Skoubye & Nielson in Salt Lake. When he isn't busy at work or doing one of the many house or yard projects we have going on, he loves to trail run, bike, read, or play games in the yard with the kids. Neighborhood kids are always welcome to come join in impromptu soccer, baseball, or hockey games. Joelle is from the Seattle area and met Stevan at Ricks (remember Stevan's good choice?). She also graduated from BYU while managing an apartment complex and Hannah (then 2). When she is not being a mom and cleaning the house, cooking, working on house projects, and all of the other things mom's "get" to do, she loves biking, running, climbing, gardening, and yard work.
Hannah turns 11 on June 20th. She is heading to Albion Middle School next year. She has played the violin for five years, and loves to read, bike, and climb. She also loves trail running to the Bells Canyon waterfall. Did we mention that Hannah likes to read -- at the breakfast table, while brushing and flossing, while rock climbing. You've never seen such creative ways to hold a book.
Rex, 7, is going into second grade next year. He loves any sport that has a ball, and hits lots of home runs in front yard baseball games. He also loves riding his bike and always whistles. He just learned to read and listens to books on tape every night (which may explain why he is always tired).
Ben, 4, is our physical boy. He wants to go to kindergarten and learn to read. In the midst of tired meltdowns, he tends to wail that it is "just because I don't know how to read." He is a quick learner, has a great memory, and loves things like physical activities like wrestling and digging.
Brandon and Melanie Church family

Brandon and Melanie were married on February 5 2011, and have 5 fabulous kids together.
Brandon owns his own business called E2 fab and spends a lot of time travelling for business and pleasure. His trips take him to China, Canada, Europe and all over the country. He loves sports and is an avid Ute and Jazz fan. He enjoys golfing and spending time with friends and family.
Melanie works at Lighting Design and loves the interaction with people in her job along with the design aspect. Friends and family are at the heart of what she does daily. She loves going to lunch, talking on the phone, skiing, shopping or doing home improvement projects.
Garrett is 20 and the busiest person ever! He is going to school full time at University of Utah, and working at Allstate full time. Not sure where he finds the energy but manages to have fun too. He is planning to study abroad in May and go to school in Spain for 6 weeks. He is so much fun to be around and has a great attitude about life.
Lexi is 18 and a senior at Alta Highschool. She is the social queen. She knows everyone and everyone seems to know her. We go shopping and she is constantly approached by the many friends she makes quite easily. She has a soft spot for special needs kids and has gone on a humanitarian mission to Mexico making this world a better place.
Tiffany is 16 and a sophomore at Brighton Highschool. She is smart, spiritual, athletic and the best friend you could ever ask for. She can be found playing lacrosse 6 days out of the 7 and has a natural ability for anything sports related. She makes the honor roll on a regular basis and has a humble attitude about it. Fun and very easy going.
Cole is 12 and in 6th grade. He has a very inquisitive mind and a high energy level. He loves to go and do things and has recently taken up Lacrosse. He plays attack and he loves it. In his down time he likes to play video games, jump on the trampoline or throw a ball around. He is planning his future and education to go far in life.
Halle is 10 and in the 5th grade. She sparkles when she talks and is the true cheerleader. She is part of a competitive cheerleading group and has won awards with it. She is sent flying through the air with a smile on her face. She loves animals and they love her. She is a very determined and hard worker with an awesome smile.
Our family had the opportunity and privilege of going to Hawaii over the holidays. It was the best vacation ever. We were all there having a blast just being together, making sand castles, walking on the beach, body surfing, sailing, hiking, exploring, swimming under waterfalls, seeing beautiful sunsets, eating amazing food, and loving the sun and sand together. We laughed and played together which with all of our busy schedules made it a very unique and memorable trip.

Paul and Wendy Flores family

The Flores family moved to the Granite area 10 years ago. Paul grew up on the west side of Salt Lake City, and Wendy grew up in the East Millcreek area. I’m not sure how the powers above got these two together because they both never thought that they would marry someone from either of their areas.
We have been married for 18 years; we have 4 kids, 3 girls and 1 boy. We enjoy all kinds of sports with soccer being our number one. Alexis, our oldest, is in competition soccer, she also plays basketball for the Brighton high school and enjoys playing volleyball. Kaylee is 12 and she enjoys playing soccer and volleyball. Next is Tia, she does tumbling and soccer. Our little man just turned 3. He enjoys playing with his trucks and throwing balls around. Paul is a parts manager for Kenworth Sales Co. and has been with them for 27 years. Wendy is a stay at home mom that is usually never home. She spends most of her time shuffling kids to various activities throughout the day.
As a family we are avid UTAH/PATRIOT fans we love to watch football, and our motto is my team is UTAH and anyone that beats BYU. We enjoy going to the ReAl soccer games and watching our kids play.
We love being in this area, and we are grateful for all of our friends that we have made. This is truly a great neighborhood to be in.

Paul is a parts manager for Kenworth Sales Co. and has been with them for 27 years. Wendy is a stay at home mom that is usually never home. Bob and Martha Egan

We were married a year ago on March 23rd in the Draper Temple. We sold both our family homes and bought the Sharp home on Mount Jordan Road, moving into the Glacial Park Ward in May 2013. Bob is a former stake president in our stake, and Martha was recently released with the stake Relief Society presidency. Bob is a retired IBM vice president, a former mission president in South Africa and counselor in the Draper Temple presidency. Martha has a property management business, background in finance, and work experience in designer clothing sales and catering. We both enjoy serving in the Draper Temple.
We have 10 children, 5 boys and 5 girls, and 33 grandchildren, who live in New York, Chicago, Dallas, San Antonio, and in the Salt Lake City, Boise and Phoenix areas. Only 3 of our children and 5 of our grandchildren live in Utah. Needless to say, we spend a lot of time traveling to be with family, and we also love traveling for the sheer pleasure of seeing the world together. We love our home, our new companionship, and being a part of this ward family.

Bubba and Brittany Fenton Family
Bubba grew up in Willow Creek and is the 5th of 6 children. I grew up in Holladay and am the oldest of 4 girls. We both graduated from Olympus High School and the University of Utah. We met in the fall of 2004 through friends in the LDS sorority & fraternities. We were engaged 4 months later and married in July 2005. Bubba is in the business Banking Group at Wells Fargo, and I have a home decor, floral & clothing shop in Holladay.
We have 3 kids; Eva may, 6, Robby 4 and Lucy is 4 months old. Eva May is in 1st grade, loves to dance, play barbies and loves anything pink and sparkly. Robby goes to preschool, loves race cars, anything sports and superheroes. Lucy is full of smiles, wants to be held all the time and loves to eat which is why she has such great chubby cheeks. As a family we love to be outdoors, hike, go to movies and vacation. We purchased our home in August and have loved getting to know the area. We love the park, exploring dimple dell and meeting neighbors on our walks. We're so excited to have found a home and raise our family here. |
